September 29, 2026 · 4 min read · By Wavnil

Key takeaways

  • On x.com, write your post, click the calendar-shaped Schedule icon in the composer, pick a date and time, click Confirm, then Schedule.
  • Scheduled posts wait in the composer's Unsent posts section, under Scheduled, where you can edit or delete them.
  • The native scheduler lives in the web version of X; X Pro, included with Premium+, schedules posts for several accounts from one screen.
  • Scheduling tools add threads, other networks and reusable time slots; Wavnil can also repost or reply automatically once a post takes off.

To schedule a tweet, open x.com, write your post, click the calendar-shaped Schedule icon at the bottom of the composer, choose a date and time, click Confirm, then click Schedule. It's free, it doesn't require Premium, and your scheduled posts wait in the Unsent posts section of the composer until they go live.

X now calls tweets posts, but the feature works the same way. This guide covers the native scheduler, X Pro for teams and several accounts, and when a scheduling tool is the better choice, with X's limits checked on September 29, 2026.

  1. Go to x.com on a computer and click Post, or use the composer at the top of your Home timeline.

  3. Click the Schedule icon, shaped like a calendar, at the bottom of the composer.
  4. Choose the date and time, and check the time zone shown.
  5. Click Confirm. The Post button now reads Schedule.
  6. Click Schedule. The post is queued on X's servers and goes live at that time, whether your computer is on or not.

According to Brandwatch's guide, x.com accepts dates well over a year ahead, up to 18 months.

How to see, edit or delete scheduled tweets

  1. Open the post composer on x.com.
  2. Select Unsent posts (depending on the version, it may be labeled Drafts).
  3. Open the Scheduled tab to see every post waiting to go out.
  4. Select a post to edit its text or media, change its date and time, or delete it.

Can you schedule tweets from your phone?

The scheduler is part of the web composer on x.com, and its availability in the iOS and Android apps has been limited and varies by account. If the Schedule icon doesn't appear in your app, prepare the post on a computer, or in a scheduling tool that publishes it for you.

Scheduling for several accounts with X Pro

X Pro, the former TweetDeck, shows several timelines side by side and lets you schedule posts for each account you manage. According to X's Help Center, access to X Pro is part of the Premium+ tier.

  1. Sign in to X Pro and click the post button.
  2. Check that the right account is selected.
  3. Write your post and add images or a video.
  4. Click Schedule post, choose the date and time, then click Schedule post at the time you picked.

Add a Scheduled column to see and edit what's queued. In a shared setup, keep in mind that X Pro shows every scheduled post of the connected accounts to anyone with access.

When a scheduling tool makes more sense

X's scheduler covers the basics. A tool becomes worth it when you:

  • Publish threads. Write every post of the thread in one editor and publish it in order.
  • Post on several networks. Schedule the same idea on X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky or Instagram from one calendar, adapted to each.
  • Want fixed time slots. Define your best hours once, and let each new post fill the next free slot.
  • Want to boost the posts that work. In Wavnil, Plugs can repost a post or add a follow-up reply automatically once it takes off.

In Wavnil, you connect your X account, write a post or a thread, choose who can reply, and pick a date or a time slot. You can also post to an X Community, and mark a post as made with AI or as a paid partnership.

Before you schedule

  • Check the length: 280 characters without Premium, and every link counts as 23 characters. Our character counter and guide to social media character limits help.
  • Check your media: photos up to 5 MB, single photos between 2:1 and 3:4 displayed in full, videos up to 140 seconds without Premium. Details in our X image size guide.
  • Pick the time: our guide to the best time to post on X compares Buffer's and Sprout Social's 2026 data.
