How to Schedule TikTok Posts in 2026 (Desktop, App, Tools)
September 29, 2026 · 4 min read · By Wavnil
Key takeaways
- TikTok's own scheduler lets you plan a video from 15 minutes to 10 days ahead, from TikTok Studio in a desktop browser.
- Once a video is scheduled, you can't edit the video, the caption or the time: delete it and upload it again to change anything.
- TikTok added post scheduling to the TikTok Studio app in January 2025, so you can also plan posts from your phone.
- Scheduling tools publish through TikTok's Content Posting API: no 10-day limit, with the same privacy, comment, Duet and Stitch settings.
To schedule a TikTok on a computer, open TikTok Studio in your browser, upload your video, add your caption and settings, switch the posting time from Now to Schedule, pick a date and time between 15 minutes and 10 days ahead, then confirm. Once scheduled, the video, caption and time can't be edited, so check everything before you confirm.
This guide covers TikTok's own scheduler on desktop and mobile, its limits, and how scheduling tools publish TikToks for you through TikTok's official API, all checked on September 29, 2026.

How to schedule a TikTok on desktop
- Open TikTok Studio in your browser (tiktok.com/tiktokstudio) and sign in.
- Click Upload and select your video. A vertical 1080 × 1920 video fills the screen: see our TikTok video size guide.
- Write your caption, add hashtags, choose a cover, and set who can watch the video and whether people can comment, Duet or Stitch.
- Switch the posting time from Now to Schedule, and pick a date and time between 15 minutes and 10 days ahead.
- Click Schedule to confirm.
Your scheduled videos then appear in TikTok Studio next to your drafts, and TikTok sends you a notification when each one goes live. If you don't see the scheduling option, check your account type: TikTok first introduced desktop scheduling for business accounts.
How to schedule a TikTok from your phone
In January 2025, TikTok added post scheduling to TikTok Studio, its companion app for creators. Upload your video there, set your caption and options, and choose a date and time instead of posting right away. Some accounts also see a scheduling option in the main TikTok app's posting settings, but availability varies by account.
What TikTok's scheduler can't do
- Edit a scheduled post. TikTok says the video, caption and time are locked once scheduled: delete the post, make your changes and upload it again.
- Plan more than 10 days ahead. Anything later has to wait, or go through a tool.
- Show your other networks. You'll plan Instagram, YouTube or LinkedIn somewhere else.
Scheduling TikToks with a tool
Scheduling tools publish through TikTok's Content Posting API. TikTok requires each post to carry a privacy level and your choices for comments, Duet and Stitch, and it tells the tool the longest video your account can post, since that limit varies by creator. There are two ways to send a video:
- Direct post: the video is published to your profile at the scheduled time.
- Send to inbox: the video lands in your TikTok inbox as a draft, and you finish and publish it in the app, which is handy if you want to add a sound or effects there.
In Wavnil, the steps are:
- Connect your TikTok account once.
- Upload your video, or several images for a photo post.
- Write the caption, then choose direct post or send to inbox.
- Set the privacy level, comments, Duet and Stitch, and turn on the AI-generated content label if the video needs it.
- Pick a date or one of your time slots. There's no 10-day limit, so you can plan a whole month.
Before you schedule
- Check the specs: 1080 × 1920 in MP4, and under 3 minutes if you post through a tool, since every creator can post 3-minute videos through the API. Our guides to TikTok video size and video length limits have the details.
- Check the caption: captions posted through the API have less room than in the app, as our guide to social media character limits explains. For stylish captions, try our TikTok fonts generator.
- Pick the time: start with the best time to post on TikTok, then confirm it with Follower activity in TikTok Studio.

Frequently asked questions
How far in advance can you schedule a TikTok?
With TikTok's own scheduler, from 15 minutes to 10 days ahead. Scheduling tools that keep your video and publish it through TikTok's official API at the chosen time, like Wavnil, aren't bound by the 10-day window, so you can prepare a month of content at once.
Can you edit a scheduled TikTok?
No. TikTok says you can't edit the video, the caption or the scheduled time once a post is scheduled. To change anything, delete the scheduled post, make your edits and upload the video again.
Can you schedule TikToks from your phone?
Yes, in the TikTok Studio app, which added post scheduling in January 2025. Some accounts also see a scheduling option in the main TikTok app, but availability varies. On a computer, scheduling is available in TikTok Studio in your browser.
Does scheduling a TikTok hurt its reach?
TikTok hasn't said that scheduled videos are treated differently, and scheduling tools publish through TikTok's official API. What affects reach is the video itself and whether your followers are active when it goes out, which Follower activity in TikTok Studio helps you check.
